Pinterest Wednesday

The my dear ones is my sad attempt at a recipe post.

Do no fret! The food was to die for, but the picture quality is not top notch. So up, up and away we go!

On Sunday, whilst Jake and young bro, Zacho were having an intense NBA playstation competition, I was "doing homework". I did it, just not until later.

I was busy going through these cookbooks.

I got a couple of them for wedding presents, and then the bottom one at church on Sunday. Because it was my last week one of the ladies in the relief society presidency gave it to me! How kind!

So I was making my grocery shopping list, and then got a HUGE craving for chili. I am a huge chili fan. Love it! Its the best. Especially Homemade Chili.

I found this recipe, and it is the easiest meal I have EVER made.

Chili:

+ 3 Tbl. Vegetable Oil
+ 1 small onion, peeled and diced
+ 1 clove garlic, peeled and minced ** I just used the pre-minced garlic that comes in a jar.
+ 1 to 1 1/2 lb. flank steak, cooked and cut into 1/2 in cubes ** I just got the thin cut beef, and it
cooked perfect while everything else was simmering
+ 2 Tbl. Chili Powder
+ 1 Tbl. smoked paprika ** I used regular paprika
+ 1 Tbl. Ground Cumin
+ 1tsp. garlic powder
+ 1 tsp. onion powder
+ 1 can (15 oz.) Black beans, rinsed and drained
+ 1 can (15 oz.) Dark Red Kidney beans, rinsed and drained
+ 1 can ( 4 oz.) fire-rosted, diced green chilies. **The hotter you make this, the healthier it is. Spicy
                                                                              boosts your metabolism!
+ 1 can (28 oz.) Tomato Sauce
+ 1 qt. Beef Broth ** I used just the 14.5 oz can and it worked perfect!!!
OPTIONAL: 4 dashes tabasco hot sauce
                       Mexican blend shredded cheese

Directions:

Warm Oil in a soup pot over MEDIUM heat.
Saute' onions and garlic until translucent. Add flank steak and all dry seasonings, stirring to coat meat. Add beans, chilies, tomato sauce, and broth. Raise the heat to MEDIUM HIGH and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes or until ready to serve.

Serve with Sour cream, cheese, or crackers.

ENJOY!

Seriously... Amazing.

**Hoover the picture to pin to Pinterest. You won't want to forget this one!!!!

Pinterest Wednesday

I have a confession.. I do not feel bad about posting yesterday!

There. I said it. I'm exhausted. And I have had so much on my mind that I can't sleep at night. Can someone help me with this??

Here is my small compilation of things that I try to use to help me sleep. Usually it all ends up failing because I think WAYYY too much.

I have this lotion, and it has seemed to help.. ish.

Did you know that using electronics, and watching TV about an hour before bed can hinder the ability to fall asleep!
So put your phone away, turn the tv off, and catch up with your hubby for the day. Read a book, get ready for bed, fold some clothes.

Every now and then I'll drink some of this

Chamomile Tea does wonders for sleep, nausea, and just overall calming you down and making you feel 10 times better than before :)

I am a firm believer in drinking some herbal tea when you want to fall asleep.

If I am laying in bed, the lights are off, and Jake is hogging the bed, I usually don't want to get out of bed and go sit and watch TV until I'm tired, I like to read.

I learned in high school that if you have dimmer lights, you tend to get sleeper. So I turn down the light settings on my phone and flip to one of my books in my Kindle App.

This was my read this weekend.

I DO NOT recommend reading this book before falling to sleep. I starting reading it and was hooked, and stayed up until 6AM. Nonetheless, it was a very very very very very good book. But I am a huge ginormous fan of Nicholas Sparks books. I have read quite a few of them. Another good thing is that the movies aren't very far off from the books.

**Sorry for that small tangent.

If you have any tips for getting to sleep, what you use, or if you have something that you would like to see on Pinterest wednesday, email me or comment below. I love your feedback!

Happy Wednesday!

Pinterest Wednesday {shopping}

Food food food. I'm always pinning food when I get on Pinterest. Either food or clothes. Story of my life.

When I go grocery shopping I go straight to my food board. I probably should be using these cook books that I got for our wedding. I will get to those one day. When I'm not so busy.. Yeah right! :)

Anyways, here are a few of my GO TO recipes whenever I'm making my shopping list.

recipe
Haystacks are always a super simple dinner. And really yummy too! My mom mades these all the time growing up, and now I love making them for Jake. To make it a little simpler, she makes her chicken broth from scratch. But I just use cream of chicken soup. Heat it up add some cooked, shredded chicken to it, and bam! Super easy. Top it with whatever your heart desires. For me its cheese, green onions, olives, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, coconut, and frozen peas.

My mom used to always have, chinese noodles, and boiled eggs to put on as well.

recipe
I found this French Bread Pizza on Pinterest after Jake and I got married. It looked simple enough so I decided to try it! And we both fell in love with it. Probable me more because it was so easy to make.

A few changes that I have made to making this pizza is, when I turn the oven on, I cut the bread in half and have it toasting while I get all of the toppings ready. Once it is lightly toasted, I top it, and put it in for about 5 minutes.

Toasting it before made it much easier to cut once everything was done!

recipe
I have only made these Crunch wrap supremes a few times, I can't think of any tips for you on this. Probably just because, they are super simple! Its pretty much, cook your meat, put in all in the center of a tortilla, wrap it up, spray it with cooking spray and grill it! Yum! It's so yummy and so fast!

recipe

Finally, I know that I have shown these deep dish pizza's before, but they are honestly so yummy and so filling. Like.. 2 of these fill me up. And they are so simple! My only little tip for you on this one is be a little careful when putting the tortillas into the muffin tin. They rip really easily!

One last thing, one of my favorite photographers is giving away a few free photoshoots once her Facebook page reached 17,000 likes. Go like her page and become part of the fun :)
